C. Askew, San Francisco/Santa Cruz. I make music as The Lovely Smooth, among other projects. This is part of my "internet presence." I am uncomfortably "self-aware" and really "into art" as well as some other things. I do graphic design work to support my studies and work at a rad food co-op in my free time.
I also co-curate a blog about hands and another about floral patterns (see above).
the lovely smooth - tiny body (has bones and feelings). finished this the other day. it still feels more like a sketch than a proper song (perhaps because ~80% of it is improvised and recorded on just one track) but i think it is rather powerful in it’s own way. i might open a set with it.
the lovely smooth - ombligo en el lomo. i just decided today that i’m finally finished with this song (which i started about 2 years ago but could not make a satisfactory arrangement for). you can download it on my soundcloud.
i can’t wait till i’m done with finals so i can start preparing for my upcoming lovely smooth gig fuuuuuuuuuuu
i’ve got really exciting new gear coming in the mail soon too that i plan on using (hooray paychecks!) and i’m trying to get some new material finished in time because i’m really excited about this new stuff
just put these flyers together at the library copy machine as props for the lovely smooth music video i’m working on with sonja for the song cold summer. makes me wish this were a real gig (even though all the monikers are my own)…
i totally forgot to post videos from the lovely smooth show last month in LA! here we are (myself with some synths and a computer and my friend nils accompanying on guitar) playing a song called grey days at the club function operate.
